It Has Been Happening For Millennia

It keeps repeating itself in cycles throughout history and time

It affects many many women and men in this world

It is not something that used to happen and has now changed

It continues to happen every day

Children, young people and adults are affected by it

Nothing seems to change

Because it happens in family and community, something sacred in society.

They are also the heart of where life begins for every human being on the planet

So what happens when you live with the enemy? What happens when you see the perpetrator every day? What happens when you are told/taught that adults are people with all the responsibility and that they know best? What happens when the adults in your life do not protect you and keep you safe?

The only answer is to just disappear within yourself. To close the doors, to build high walls, create an armour and whatever ways you can find to make yourself feel safe. To be able to cope with the unimaginable.

You are in a helpless situation. Without any tool to understand or ways to create change. You are stuck and the only thing you can create, is ways of coping.

It has been happening for millennia.

The cycle perpetuates itself. The abuser becoming the perpetrator, either by action or inaction.

And so, it continues to happen every day throughout our world. Regardless of race, religion, class or any other differentiator.

It has been happening for millennia.

When and how are we going to stop this cycle?

Trauma breeds trauma.

Awareness and healing breaks the cycles.
